EPA Approves Agresti Energy's Renewable Fuel Pathway
After 31 months of analysis, the U.S. EPA approved Agresti Energy's Pressure Hydrolysis Process for a proprietary Renewable Fuel Pathway, qualifying it to generate D3 cellulosic RINs for the U.S. transportation industry.
After 31 months of analysis, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency approved Agresti Energy's Pressure Hydrolysis Process for a proprietary Renewable Fuel Pathway, qualifying it to generate D3 cellulosic Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs) for the U.S. transportation industry.
Key highlights
- EPA approval received March 15, 2022 after 31 months of evaluation.
- Pathway qualifies the process to generate D3 cellulosic RINs.
- Eligible feedstocks: agricultural digestate, crop residue, yard waste, MSW, wastewater sludge, forestry waste.
- D3 RINs trade at roughly 10× the wholesale price of non-renewable fuel.
- 2022 cellulosic biofuel target: 16 billion gallons. Actual production: ~770 million gallons. The gap is the opportunity.
“Agresti Energy can now efficiently create high value renewable biofuel from organic cellulosic waste streams while significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.”
